This program
has been in place since 1972 and is sponsored by
Citizens' Crime Watch of Dade County (CCW) in
cooperation with the Metro-Dade Police
Department. This program creates an alliance of
citizens working with the police to address the
growing crime problem in the community. Through
Crime Watch, citizens are educated in areas such
as personal protection, home security, and crime
reporting.
Under the
umbrella of Citizens' Crime Watch falls several
other effective programs such as Business Crime
Watch, Neighborhood Crime Watch, and
National Night Out, to name a few. These
programs are all designed to encourage citizens
to band together to fight crime in their
respective neighborhoods throughout the
community.
Citizens'
Crime Watch still proves to be a viable crime
prevention program that is instrumental in
promoting police/community relations.
